About Central University
Central University is an educational Initiative of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).
It has its origins in a short-term Pastoral training institute, which was started in October 1988 by ICGC. It was later incorporated, in June 1991 under the name, Central Bible College. In 1993, the name was changed again to Central Christian College.
The College later upgraded its programs to the baccalaureate level, and in line with national aspirations, expanded its programs to include an integrated and practice-oriented business school, named Central Business School.
To reflect its new status as a liberal arts tertiary institution, the university was re-christened Central University College in 1998. The National Accreditation Board has since accredited it as a tertiary Institution. It is co-educational with equal access for male and female enrolment.
Central University has nine (9) faculties/schools, namely the Central Business School (CBS), the School of Architecture and Design (SADe), School of Graduate Studies (SGS), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Faculty of Law (FOL), School of Pharmacy (SOP), School of Engineering and Technology (SET), the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) and the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM)
In January 2016, the University College received the long-awaited Presidential Charter to become an autonomous and fully-fledged university-Central University.

#1. School Of Pharmacy
The Central University School of Pharmacy was established and is located on the Miotso Campus. The school has a rich history of excellence and commitment to education.

The BPharm program has been upgraded to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Programme and has since rolled out from the 2018/19 academic year.

#2. The Faculty Of Law
My mother would always say, if you wanna make a difference in life, study law. You might not have all the money to give people when you do, but you might be able to offer a very rare commodity to millions, and that is hope.
I guess this is why laws are the last hope of the common man- scratch that of every man! And while I may not have tolled this line for reasons I cannot discuss at the moment, I still believe it’s a noble profession.

#9. Central Business School
When Central Christian College was elevated to the university college level in 1998 and given the new name Central University College, Central Business School (CBS) was first founded as the School of Business Management and Administration (SBMA).
In 2000, the following departments were established: marketing, agribusiness management, human resource management and management studies, accounting and finance. After the Graduate School of Business and SBMA merged in 2011, the school’s name was changed to Central Business School (CBS).
By preparing young people for roles in business, administration, and entrepreneurship that are desperately required in the nation, the Central Business School (CBS) has continued to play a significant role in the growth of the nation.
It is dedicated to fostering a thriving academic environment that supports knowledge creation, study, and sharing via service, training, and research. Central University’s fundamental values serve as the foundation for the School’s mission, vision, philosophy, and core values.
#10. School of Graduate Studies and Research
General Information
Graduate studies at Central University College (CUC) began in 1999 when the School of Theology and Missions mounted the MPhil and MA degree programs in Religious Studies.
In the year 2006, the Graduate School of Business was established to offer programs in graduate business education. The School admitted its first batch of MBA students in February 2007.
Following the merger of the Graduate School of Business with the School of Business Management and Administration to form the Central Business School in the 2010/2011 academic year, University management approved the establishment of the School of Research and Graduate Studies, nowthe School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGS)to coordinate all graduate programs in the University.
The primary responsibility of the School is to set standards and ensure effective dissemination of high-quality research information.
It is also required to maintain high standards in the quality of graduate programs and to coordinate the various graduate programs and research activities of graduate students and faculty.
The School works with the Deans of Faculty/ School and Headsof Department to develop and administer graduate programs according to the needs of the University and by the general standards of excellence and sound academic administration established by the University.
The School will also facilitate the development of new graduate programs including the MPhil and the PhD in all the Faculties/Schools of the University.

Admission Requirements
1. Taught Master’s Degree Programmes – M.A/MBA/M.Sc.
An applicant seeking admission to an M.A/MBA/M.Sc. degree program must:
- Have obtained a good first degree (at least a Second Class) in an appropriate field of study from a recognized University.
b.Satisfy additional requirements prescribed by the faculties/departments. These may include relevant work experience, a written entrance examination, and an interview.
2. Research Master’s Degree Programmes – M.Phil
An applicant seeking admission to an M.Phil degree program must :
- Have obtained a good first degree (at least a Second Class) in the appropriate field of study from a recognized University.
- Submit a proposal of 2-3 pages of A4 Size paper on the intended area of study.
- Satisfy an additional requirement prescribed by the faculty/department. These may include relevant work experience, a written entrance examination, and an interview.
An applicant who possesses a Taught Master’s degree (M.A. /MBA/M.Sc.) and wishes to enroll in an M.Phil degree program will be required to take additional relevant courses not exceeding 18 credit hours and present a thesis.
3. Doctor of Philosophy – PhD
A candidate seeking admission into the PhD must:
a. Have a Master’s degree in an appropriate field of study from a recognized university.
b. Submit a proposal of 3-5 pages of A4 Size paper on the intended area of research.
c. Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the faculty /department. These may include relevant work experience, a written examination, and an interview.

What is Central University Entry Requirements/ Cut-off Points?
The central university entry requirements are different from one program to the other as can be seen on the University’s website.
The University ensures that entry requirements conform to standards set by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and various regulatory and professional bodies. The University’s admission requirements are as follows:
West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
An applicant must have credit passes (A1-C6) in core English, core Mathematics, and either core Integrated Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Thirty-six (36) or better.
In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant Faculty/School. The entry is at Level 100:
a.Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE).
An applicant must have credit passes (A-D) in core English, core Mathematics, and either core Science or Social Studies and three elective subjects, with an overall aggregate score of Twenty-four (24) or better. In addition, candidates must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant faculty/school. Entry is at Level 100.
b. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary and Advanced Levels.
An applicant must have at least credit passes in 5 subjects (including English Language and Mathematics at the GCE Ordinary Level and at least 3 passes at the GCE Advanced Level. One of the Advanced Level passes must be a grade of ‘D’ or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained. Entry is at Level 100.
c. Professional qualifications/Tertiary Diplomas (Entry at levels 200 and 300).
The level of placement of professional certificate and tertiary-level diploma holders will depend on the assessment of their certificates or diplomas about the programs desired.
All professional certificate and tertiary level diploma holders must have either G.C.E.“O” Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics or SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics to qualify for admission.
The placement level of candidates will depend on the assessment of their certificates by the relevant Faculty/School or Department.
d.Admission through Mature Students’ Entrance Examination.
The candidate must be at least 25 years old by 31stDecember of the year preceding the examination. A certified copy of the birth certificate is required. The date of issue of the birth certificate should not be less than five years from the date of the completion of the admission forms. The submission of fraudulent certificates is grounds for withdrawal at any point in a student’s enrolment.
Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations consist of a General Paper for all candidates and two papers in the area(s) of specialization desired.
e.Applicants with foreign certificates.
Foreign applicants must have qualifications equivalent to the above to be considered for admission. Their results must also be translated into English and they should be able to read and write in English. Additionally,all foreign certificates are validated by the National Accreditation Board.Applicants may also be required to pass an entrance examination/interview.
In addition to the general admission requirements, Schools, Faculties and Departments may have special entry requirements. The academic catalogs of the Schools and Faculties must be consulted for up-to-date information.
f. Entry requirements for Diploma programmes
To be admitted to a Diploma program, a candidate must satisfy the following minimum requirements besides the conditions stipulated for the particular program:
Diploma
i SSSCE Holders
Six (6) passes A-D in all subjects, including English and Mathematics
For areas of specialization, three (3) of the passes must be in relevant subjects
ii WASSCE holders
Six (6) passes (A1 – D7) in all subjects, three (3) of which should be credit passes (C6) or better. It must be noted that certain subjects may require credit passes in other relevant subjects.

Banking
On arrival, students are advised to put their money in the bank as it is not wise to carry a lot of cash around.
On our campuses, we have various Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) available 24 hours a day. Ecobank, GT Bank, and Stanbic Bank accept international transactions using a VISA/Debit/Credit card.
Internet Access
Central University operates with a Wireless system. Any student with a personal laptop can easily access the internet. For safety and security reasons, please be sure not to carry your laptop around campus at night.
Students can also access the Internet at the Computer Lab. or the ICT-Directorate. There are also, several commercial cyber cafés located around our campuses.
